This hand woven scarf is made of natural resources. Usually the ladies of East Timor or Sumba are weaving this sort of scarf during their resting time and not going to the paddy or corn fields. That's why this process will take up to months, besides, the tools are from bamboo and woods. The skillful hands will put one by one the dying thread to perform motives as they imagine. The dying is from the leaves of plants as jack fruits for red color, "pandan" to get green dying, etc.
The maintenance of a hand woven product is simple, as long as, it's not being washed with detergent and drying away from the rays. You just need to hang it and get some fresh air, then the songket will be long lasting up to 3 generations or more
