--------------------------
Oleuropeinis a phenylethanoid, a type of phenolic compound found in olive leaf from the olive tree together with other closely related compounds such as 10-hydroxyoleuropein, ligstroside, and 10-hydroxyligstroside. All these compounds are tyrosol esters of elenolic acid that are further hydroxylated and glycosylated.
Oleuropein and its metabolite hydroxytyrosol have powerful antioxidant activity both in vivo and in vitro and give extra-virgin olive oil its bitter, pungent taste. Oleuropein preparations have been claimed for several pharmacological effects[2] among them[3] strengthening of the immune system. A study in rats suggests oleuropein enhances thermogenesis by increasing the thermogenin content in brown adipose tissue and the secretion of noradrenaline and adrenaline.
Hydroxytyrosolis a phenylethanoid, a type of phenolic phytochemical with antioxidant properties. After gallic acid, hydroxytyrosol is believed to be one of the most powerful antioxidants. Its oxygen radical absorbance capacity is 40,000 umolTE/g, which is ten times higher than that of green tea, and two times higher than that of CoQ10
In nature, hydroxytyrosol is found in olive leaf which is used for medical purposes, with immunostimulant and antibiotic properties.[2] It also exists in olive oil, in the form of its elenolic acid ester oleuropein and, especially after degradation, in its plain form. Oleuropein, along with oleocanthal, are responsible for the bitter taste of extra virgin olive oil. Hydroxytyrosol itself in pure form is a colorless, odourless liquid. The olives, leaves and olive pulp contain large amounts of hydroxytyrosol (compared to olive oil), most of which can be recovered to produce hydroxytyrosol extracts.
Hydroxytyrosol is also a metabolite of the neurotransmitter dopamine.

Funcitons
Oleuropein
1. Inhibiting the growth of every virus, bacteria, fungi and protozoa and killing them.
2. Preventing the onset of colds, flu, and a range of viruses, yeast, fungal and mould problems, bacterial infections, and parasites.
3. Powerful effects on anti-infectious disease.
4. Being lethal to some cancer cells based upon it's general immune enhancing properties.
5. Lowering blood pressure, increasing blood flow in the coronary arteries, relieving arrhythmias, preventing the hardening of the arteries.
6. Improving the auto-immune disorder
Hydroxytyrosol
- 1. Hydroxytyrosol and Heart Health
This antioxidant has been shown to aid in a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease by preventing low-density lipoprotein oxidation.
- 2. Hydroxytyrosol and Neurodegenerative Disorders.
A powerful antioxidant that is rapidly absorbed, and capable of passing the blood brain barrier in relative large amounts. Therefore, it may be very useful in the treatment of oxidative stress associated with neurodegenerative disease.
- 3. Hydroxytyrosol and Oxidative Damage.
Believed to be the highest free radical scavenging antioxidant. Making it necessary to fight damage caused by free radicals.
