Songket is a fabric that belongs to the brocadefamily of textiles. It is hand-woven in silk or cotton, and intricatelypatterned with gold or silver threads. The metallic threads stand out againstthe background cloth to create a shimmering effect. In the weaving process themetallic threads are inserted in between the silk or cotton weft (latitudinal)threads.
Usually used in every MInangkabau (West Sumatera) traditional ceremony. These songket may use and combined with any modern style of fashion.
