The introduction of PTFE:
1. PTFE is a fluorocarbon based polymer.
2. PTFE's mechanical properties are low compared to other plastics,
and can be used over a wide temperature range.
3. Mechanical properties are often enhanced by adding fillers.
4. It has excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties and a
low coefficient of friction.
5. PTFE is very dense and cannot be processed by melting.
6. PTFE must be compressed and sintered to form useful shapes.
