there areb several plase in anatolia called ladik, of which only two are of importence as carpet centers.
the classical ladik is 40 km north of konya, the settlement of and old turkoman tribe,a brance of which wandered further north - west and founded another ladik near samsun on the sea.
both centers make same type of carpets with three basic patterns of highimportance and distinguishable:
a) prayer carpets with - three fold gabled mihrap niches 9usually red tones).
b) classic design with yellowe / gold and blue).
c) the so called column ladik in wich green blue tones also dominate, the konya ladik with colors of the same palette.
the sophisticated ladik patterns depends on a relatively fine aptitude for knotting.
the column ladik pattern demands then highest craftsmanship and so this type seldom found today.
